Things You Can do in Koh Phangan - Full Moon Parties and More!

Wild and crazy raves during the full moon are not the only thing Koh Phangan is known for! There's so much more. Here's a list of activities for you to do.

Thong Sala Night Market

The Thai people love their night markets; you can find almost anything that you are looking for or even things that you never thought you needed! They've got it all covered. The night markets are also one of the best places to experience Thai street food at its finest. This particular market is mainly for the foodies as there are numerous numbers of stalls that serve hot, delicious and authentic Thai meals. It is a must visit to experience the local culture!

Waterfalls

Koh Phangan is home to about 7 waterfalls, all of them, which are in close proximity to the main cities and thus, easily accessible. Some of the waterfalls that are worthy of mentioning are Sramanora waterfalls, Than Sadet, Than Prawet and Than Prapaad. Out of this, Than Prawet is the closest one to the beach and Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. Take a dip in one of them and swim around the natural pools. It is worthy to mention that Than Sadet, meaning "Royal stream" is the largest one in the island. It is said that this waterfall was visited by may Kings of Thailand, and if you go to the cliff nearby, you could spot a few signatures engraved.

Domesila Viewpoint

This is about a 20 minutes hike from Phaeng waterfall. Once on top, you are greeted with a spectacular view of the whole of the western coast of Koh Phangan.

Moonlight Cinema

It is located in Thong Sala in Koh Phangan and is the only cosy cinema in the island that is set in a garden setting. There are a big screen and some great movies that you can enjoy while snacking on some delicious food or even sip a cold one from the bar. You are given headphones to use. There is an entrance fee of 150 Baht. It is not very often you get to unwind to your favourite movies while seated in a natural environment. So, this certainly calls for a visit!

Rent a Motorbike to explore!

If you are an experienced rider, do not pass the opportunity to rent a motorbike and explore the city. You could leave your luggage and backpack at a beach resort in Koh Phangan and take your two-wheeler on a spin across the island. It is one of the cheapest modes of transport and the ideal way to explore. There is a hill situated in between AI Chaophao and Haad Yao, where you can ride down to witness a magnificent view of the island.

Attend a full moon party!

After mentioning that the Koh Phangan is known for their full moon parties, this list would not be complete without elaborating on it! Why is it famous? Because many tourists find the full moon in Koh Phangan particularly alluring. In addition to that, Haad Rin is a crescent-shaped beach which seems like the ideal location to host a full moon party. Over the time, it has become so popular and in demand that every month, there are more than 10,000 party-goers that flock to Koh Phangan to dance away until the moon becomes the sun. The atmosphere is wild and complete, thanks to the fireworks, carnival-like setting and also music to suit anyone and everyone.
