7 Top sites for Scuba diving- Dive into vibrant corals, sharks and caves!

White-powdery beaches, excellent reefs and the many interesting marine life in the Maldives, makes it an ideal scuba diving destination.

1

Huvadhoo Atoll

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced scuba diver, this is a great place to witness tiger and whale sharks.

2

Ari Atoll

Not only home to many popular Maldives resorts, it is also considered to be one of the best diving sites in the Maldives. The most popular one being Maaya Thila, in South Ari Atoll. You could go scuba diving in day or night and witness whitetip reef sharks, barracuda. The best time, however, to jump into the ocean would be just after sunset, where you will be surrounded by a feeding frenzy!
The other popular one is the Five Rocks, which is essentially a pinnacle that has been divided into five over the course of time. The rocks go as further as 130 feet below sea level and are one of the famous destinations for underwater photographers.
The North Ari Atoll is where the Fish Head, also known as Mushimasmingili Thila or the Shark Point which is, as the name suggests, known for shark dives. It was at one time a feeding point for the sharks. However, it is no more practised! Prepare yourself to spot more than 10 Grey Reef Sharks as soon as you dive!

3

Raa Atoll

Another popular scuba location not just because you can witness pink soft corals, mantas and reef sharks, but also submerged islands called thilas. How amazing would it be to explore not just the islands by foot but also explore the underwater islands? Adaaran Select Meedhupparu is a resort situated in this Atoll and is known to offer the guest's scuba diving excursions

4

Laamu Atoll

This is home to a more variety of marine life and colourful corals that make your diving experience seem magical! It would definitely remind you of a Unicorn island! Also, since it is ideal for beginners, everyone can experience this underwater magic land!

5

North Male Atoll

A distinct scuba destination, Banana Reef is located here. This was the first scuba site that became famous internationally. It is suitable for scuba diving and snorkelling as there are shallow sections too. You can find Napoleon wrasse and jackfish among other marine life.

6

Vaavu Atoll

The Alimatha Jetty in this Atoll is one of the best locations if you fancy a night scuba dive. The pre-scuba period itself is quite picturesque; you see many silhouettes of scuba divers against the blazing sunset, ready to jump once it gets dark. Though it is a night scuba site, it is still beginner friendly. So don't let that stop you from diving in.

7

South Male Atoll

Opposed to the North Male Atoll, this is a more peaceful and quieter zone with crystal clear waters. There's an underwater island about 1000 feet long and shaped like a teardrop called Kandooma Thila. It's a little challenging to explore this island in a single dive. There's a cave called Jack's Corner, situated on the North sides. This makes it a more adventurous dive and an unforgettable experience.
