Summer Reading 2018 - Princesses Who Kick Butt

Yes, these are books about princesses, but I dare you to find characters who are as strong of mind or body. These young women get it done.

Ash Princess (Ash Princess Trilogy #1)

Six-year-old Princess Theodosia’s mother is murdered by invaders as she is forced to watch. Ten years later she is now a prisoner in her own castle. Stripped of power or privilege. Humiliated by the cruel Kaiser on a daily basis. Survival is her only weapon. Will she be strong enough to take back her kingdom?

Royals by Rachel Hawkins

The most delightful romance you will ever read. Spicy Daisy Winters is the younger sister of perfect Eleanor who is now engaged to the Prince of Scotland. Daisy is forced to spend her summer in Scotland, learning the rules of living with royalty and trying to stay out of the tabloids. She is not good at either of these things. At all.

The Serpent's Secret (Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond, #1)

Kiranmala’s parents have always told her that she is a princess. But as a twelve-year-old from New Jersey, she believes that this is all part of the Indian legends that they love to tell her. And then a monster shows up in her kitchen, and she is rescued by two princes on winged horses. Now she is wondering how much of these stories are legend, and what is real?

The Smoke Thieves (The Smoke Thieves, #1) by Sally Green

Dude. This book. Sooooo good. It has been called a YA version of Game of Thrones. I will just tell you that it is probably the best fantasy I have read since Graceling. Which is high praise, let me tell you. The stories of five young people who seemingly have nothing in common, come together in this story of monsters (both demon and human), kingdoms, loyalty, war, bravery and courage. Just start reading it NOW.
