Five Ways to Increase Your Kerb Appeal!

They say that a first impression is everything and it doesn’t matter if you are a person or a building. This is why it is so important to have your home looking its finest whether it be for selling or welcoming guests for a dinner party. Here are some affordable ways you could be sprucing your home!

1

Clean The Drive

Too many times I have passed houses with weeds growing on the drives or dull paving slabs. Time to get out the pressure washer to blast away all that dirt to reveal a fresh and bright drive. Dig out the de-weeder tool and start getting into the smaller crevices of your drive... I did this to my drive once, the de-weeding was a long process, but it was super satisfying! Also, move the bin and recycling boxes out of sight if possible, to make you home as welcoming as possible.

Tidy The Garden

Not everyone has a drive, but you might have a small garden or some greenery in front of your home which could do with a sort out. Start by pulling out all the weeds by the roots so you reduce the chances of regrowth and cut back any overgrown plants to reveal a tidier space. Not only does cutting back make plants look more clear, cutting away any dead branches or leaves also encourages better growth. After you have made the area all pretty, take some weed preventative measures to stop them from popping up again!

Wash The Windows

Get out the Mr. Muscle and start cleaning – both inside and out. The outside of your windows are constantly battling the natural elements so why not give them some TLC? Giving them a wipe down not only do enables better vision, but it helps prolong their life. Although having clean windows is crucial, don’t forget the frames! Make sure you clean the ledge and seals as you would be surprised at how mucky those can get. Windows have tendencies to grow mould where the seals are if there isn’t enough ventilation, so make sure you open your windows and give it all a good wipe down!

Front Door Facelift

It has seen many faces from the Dave the postman to unwanted cold callers and in the timely Spring clean spirit… Time to show your door some TLC too! Depending the material and age of your door, you may need to switch it up a little in terms of what you use to clean the door. For example, if you have a stained wooden door, after a dust down, it is best to use furniture wax or polish to reveal a lovely glow. Or for composite doors, these are the easiest for upkeep and longevity when cared for correctly. Use a soft cloth to clean mechanism and soapy warm water to wipe down the surface. Depending on how tough the dirt is, you might need a specialist door cleaner.

There are some funny door mats around which could put a smile on a guest or buyers face before they even enter your house! Also, outdoor lighting is a fab idea for when you have evening dinner parties and even when you are simple trying to find your keys after a night out.
