5 Essentials for Yellowstone Camping!

Those vacation vibes are hitting and if you’re going on an absolutely classic vacation to Yellowstone this break, you are in for a treat. Old Faithful will not fail to blow you away, the bison will be more gigantic than you ever imagined and the natural beauty is going to take your breath away. Great choice my friend, you’ve chosen wisely. Here are 5 of my essentials for camping, what are yours??

1

Layering Jacket or Sweater

Layering Jacket or Sweater

My favorite piece of clothing while camping is my Patagonia fleece. Keeping a lightweight layer around is perfect for those surprisingly chilly mornings and cool evenings. Consider a light waterproof layer as well as summer rains can sweep through unexpectedly.

2

Refillable Water Bottle

Getting dehydrated can happen quickly as you’ll be trekking around to all the points of interest. Thankfully, the park has water stations scattered throughout the park. So keep some water on hand at all times to stay fresh and energized.

3

Headlamp

You forget how dark it can get when camping. Things can get dicey when trying to find a restroom in the dark so be sure to pack a headlamp or flashlight. The headlamp is ideal since you can go hands free when rooting around the cooler for a midnight snack.

4

Camera

Camera

Yellowstone isn’t a trip you’ll ever want to forget. So make sure to pack a camera! Not only will your Instagram be sure to light up after posting #yellowstonenationalpark but your family will also have great photos for your home! If you don’t have a camera, just bring your phone! Tip: since there is limited cell reception in the park, put airplane mode on to save battery.

5

Bug Spray & Bear Spray

Bug Spray & Bear Spray

The gorgeous wildlife is one of the greatest things about Yellowstone! That being said, you also don’t want to be caught unprepared if the wildlife decides to be...uncooperative. Bring your bug spray and bear spray but also do your part to keep everyone safe. Make sure to pack and seal any food up and away from furry little creatures.

6

Gourmet Coffee

Gourmet Coffee

Just because you're camping or backpacking in Yellowstone doesn't mean you have to rough it when comes to your coffee. Chances are, you might be driving through Bozeman, MT on your way to the park. If you are, swing by Treeline Coffee Roasters. They sell pre-filled, single serve, pour over filters. They are so small, they won't take much space in your pack and you'll be able to have delicious coffee while camping!
