The IIM Ahmedabad established CIIE in 2002 initially as an academic research centre. In 2007, CIIE’s infrastructure came up at IIM Ahmedabad’s new campus with support from Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology and Gujarat Government — with the goal to be a national centre of excellence in promoting entrepreneurship and bridging gaps in the ecosystem.

We believe creating a conducive ecosystem is critical to promoting entrepreneurship in India. Over the years, CIIE has brought together individuals, corporates, foundations & CSRs, multilateral agencies, government and academia to build interventions to support entrepreneurship in India.
Bharat Inclusion Initiative gives technology purpose. Technological progress, in its current form, is not equitably distributed. Technology could impact a lot of hard problems that billions of underserved people face everyday, but it finds itself serving the needs of the few instead.
