Kandy Garrison Cemetery which is also known as British Garrison Cemetery holds the tranquil aura of a place lost amidst the pages of time. There are 195 graves of British men, women and children who breathed their last in the island during the occupation of the British of the island. Wandering through the silent pathways of this eerily beautiful place, you will stumble upon the grave of Sir John D'Oyly who was a famous British colonial administrator as well as the grave of Lady Elizabeth Gregory, who was the wife of William Henry Gregory, the Governor of Ceylon (1872 to 1877).
