Top 5 Reasons to Visit Maldives – and you'll be convinced!

Are you planning your next vacation and trying to finally decide whether the Maldives is worth a visit? Here are the top 5 reasons that'll convince you to book your flight and head here!

1

Accommodation

If you've done your research, you would know by now the different types of accommodation offered by the resorts, from beach villas to overwater villas. The beach villas offer you accommodation surrounded by vegetation and a few steps to the beach. Some of them are even fitted with your own private pool, similar to those found at Kurumba Maldives. With a private pool and the added benefit of having the natural Maldivian pool, i.e. the sea, you'll get the best of both worlds! The overwater villas, however, are simply exquisite. The overwater villas offer a direct access to the sea. Step on to your deck and descend from the ladder and you'll have the azure waters lapping at your feet, inviting you in.

2

Marine life

The marine life is simply impeccable. Whether you're snorkelling or scuba diving, you'll be blessed with a wondrous variety of sea creatures. Keep your eyes peeled and remember to hold your breath as sea turtles and colourful fish swim past you. It's important to remember not to interact or get too close to any animal, as they might attack if they feel threatened. While snorkelling, also refrain from stepping on or touching any coral or sea animals as this can be harmful or kill them! If you're scuba diving, you might be lucky enough to spot whale sharks, manta rays, black tip sharks or white tip sharks and many others.

Activities

While you're at the resort, you might wonder what other things you could do besides snorkelling and scuba diving. Thankfully, most resorts have the answer to that and offer you a range of fun and interesting things to do, to ensure you won't get bored while on their island! Dance to the beat of Bodu Beru drums, partake in some water sports such as kayaking or windsurfing, head to the gym, take part in a cooking class or help the conservationist plant corals. If you're travelling as a couple, why not surprise your partner with a candlelit dinner on the beach or on a private island?

4

Food

The local food is exotic and packed with spices and flavours with distinct touches from the closest neighbouring country of Sri Lanka. Seafood is their main speciality, as it's easy to catch and the most accessible. Most Maldives restaurants serve international and local cuisine at their buffets. However, do keep in mind, you, as a guest, are not allowed to fish near the resort. There are permitted fishing spots where you can fish. Some resorts even offer you a cooking class, where an expert chef will teach you how to make a traditional dish; so that you can take a little bit of Maldives with you!

Views

Do you remember that old Windows wallpaper? The one with the palm tree and turquoise waters? That's exactly what you'll get here in the Maldives. Your entire vacation will be like living in a wallpaper. You'll wake up to stunning views of a pristine beach and have lunch overlooking the azure waters. The beautiful views ought to the only reason to visit the Maldives!
