Things to do in Bangkok when it Rains – Good times, coffee, and the great indoors

Bangkok has many things to do and see on a bright and sunny day, but what does one do when the clouds gather and the rain falls down relentlessly? Read on to find out.

1

Central World

Everyone who visits travel has shopping on their list of things to do. So why not make use of the rainy day and step into one of the many malls in the city? Central World is the biggest shopping mall in Bangkok and is located close to the Siam BTS station. Cinemas, kids' area, international brand stores, and everything you will ever want to have in a shopping mall, you'd find it here. When you get restless and tired of hopping, or window shopping, you can strap on some skates and go on the ice skating rink.

2

Spa Treatments

The next best thing to cosying up with a book and a cup of hot chocolate at one of the 5 star hotels in Bangkok you might be staying at, for instance, an establishment like Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, is to get yourself a massage treatment. Get away from the rain and muddy roads, and check yourself into one of the many spas in Bangkok and treat yourself while the rain continues to fall. A candlelit room, the smell of essential oils and an experienced masseuse are all you need to make the best out of a rainy day in the city.

3

SEA LIFE Ocean World

Known as the Siam Ocean World earlier, the SEA LIFE Ocean World is two floors below the Siam Paragon mall. This water wonderland can easily fit three Olympic sized swimming pools within itself and is home to a wide range of marine life that can usually be seen only in the deepest parts of the ocean. You can walk through the underwater tunnel take a ride on the glass-bottomed boat or if you really want to be up close and personal with the marine life, you can swim with the stingrays and sharks in the water.

Cakes!

The people of Bangkok love their desserts, and of all the sweet delicacies, cakes seem to be a favourite among the locals. You can find a cake shop in almost every part of the city, and on a rainy day, step into one of these shops and try the famous cake, along with a cup of hot coffee. What more could you ask for?

Easy Kart

Sitting inside on a rainy day can get boring soon unless you are the melancholy type that loves to stare at the water droplets and imagine you are in a sad song. Dress up, leave your room, and head to the nearest Go Karting arena in Bangkok. The Easy Cart located at RCA Plaza is something you can check out. Drive your boredom away while you race around the protected tracks just inches above the ground and feel the adrenaline rush through you. The karting arena is open from 1 pm until midnight every day of the week.
