This is a picturesque museum that sits facing the sea front of Al Khor City. Located just 57 kilometres north of Doha, the museum houses a spectacular array of artefacts that vividly portray the way Al Khor was shaped over time. Located in Al Luqta in the suburbs of Doha, the iconic Weaponry Museum displays an interesting collection of arms and armour. Among the most notable possessions of the museum are the gold encased dagger of Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah Thani and the curved dagger that was carried by Lawrence of Arabia. This unique museum houses a very intriguing collection of artefacts that date from the Jurassic Age. Over 15,000 exhibits that cover a wide range of themes can be admired at this exclusive spot. There are 15 halls to be explored here and the artefacts are grouped into the categories of Islamic art, vehicles, coins and currency and Qatari heritage. Opened to the public in the year 1998 by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, the museum aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Qatar. It's also quite interesting to note that all of the artefacts here are items collected by Sheikh Faisal over the span of 50 years.

The iconic Al Wajbah Fort is one of the must visit places in Qatar. Located in Al Wajbah in Al Rayyan the fort can be reached in half an hour from Doha. It was built in 1893 AD, making it one of the oldest forts in the country. It is on the spot where the army of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani defeated the throngs of Ottoman army. The four magnificent watchtowers in this fort are well worth exploring.

If you are intrigued by ancient history you must certainly schedule a visit to Al Jassasiya where 874 rock carvings of various designs such as rosettes, ships and footmarks that are believed to be dating back to Neolithic times can be found. These rock carvings called 'petroglyphs' were discovered in the year 1957. The area is quite popular during the weekends as the beaches here are absolutely gorgeous.

Barzan Towers which are also known as Umm Salal Mohammed Fort Towers are immensely popular among tourists. These majestic towers which were built in the late 19th century are 16 metres in height. It is believed that the towers were used back in the day to watch the pearl divers as well as to look out for approaching ships. The towers are open to public 24 hours so you can easily include a visit to this place of glorious beauty in your travel itinerary.
