Monkey Mountain is located at Khao Takiab on Chopstick Hill; this is a 272 metre long headland which juts out to sea. From town, Monkey Mountain can be accessed by hopping in a tuk tuk, it is a short 20 minute drive which takes you across the charming fishing hub of Khao Takiab. From the base of Monkey Mountain, you need to climb about 100 steps to reach the Buddhist shrine located there. Remember to dress modestly and cover bare legs and shoulders, or else you may have to rent out a sarong and shawl to serve the purpose. From the summit of the mountain, you are rewarded with picture postcard views of the Hua Hin coastline. There are plenty of resident monkeys too in the region, which is not cause for worry, although they are quite cheeky and not too shy about snatching a snack or drink from the hands of unsuspecting visitors. One of the most interesting of things to do in Hua Hin, climbing and exploring Monkey Mountain is quite the experience.
