Arugam Bay

Located on the Eastern Coast of Sri Lanka, Arugam Bay is a world famous surf destination, attracting a range of surfers from across the globe. Surfing season is from April to October, during which time, the area surrounding the beach is a surfer's paradise, with many enthusiasts staying at hotels in the area. Located at the tip of the bay, Arugam Bay offers breaks as high as 5 to 10 metres and, is considered an advanced surfers destination. But it is not just a surfer's beach, head away from the surfing spot and you will discover the essence of Arugam Bay which is a laid back fisher village, with colourful crafts dotting one side of the bay and swaying coconut palms inviting you to enjoy an afternoon siesta on the soft golden sands.

Pasikuda Beach

Pasikuda is one of the most stunning beaches on the Eastern Coast of Sri Lanka. It is located to the north of Batticaloa, and can be easily reached via Cinnamon Air, which also gives you the added bonus of taking in spectacular aerial views of the coast. Probably one of the best experiences of a Sri Lanka beach, deciding to fly straight out to Pasikuda, will help you rest and relax in true island style. Made up of a flat bed, the bay of Pasikuda is highly conducive for wading and swimming as far as 200 metres, from the shoreline as it is calm shallow and protected by a barrier reef. Water sports in Sri Lanka are quite popular and you can enjoy excellent surfing and kite surfing at the adjoining Kalkudah Beach; the best time is in September. Pasikuda is the type of beach, which urges you to set off on a dawn trek, watch out for returning deep sea fishermen and let the fresh sea breezes soothe mind, body and soul.

Uppuveli Beach

Uppuveli Beach is located in Trincomalee, just north of Batticaloa, and is also accessed via the Sri Lanka domestic air taxi service. The place promises pristine beaches coupled with a touch of history to enjoy. A former Portuguese colony in the 17th century, this area offers the culture buff plenty of sites to explore. The beach, also called Allesgarden Beach, is considered one of the most beautiful and unspoilt in Sri Lanka. Stretching a distance of 4kms the place is popular for swimming amongst family travellers as the water is very shallow and safe.

Marble Beach

Located within the natural harbour of Trincomalee, Marble Bay Beach is thought to be one of the best in the world. The name is attributed to the glassy shiny surface of the sea on a sunny day; and is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, or just spending an entirely lazy day, of doing nothing.

Nilaveli Beach

Just 20kms from Trincomalee, Nilaveli Beach is a true oasis. The sun bleached white sand is lapped at by the glistening surf of the Indian Ocean, enticing you to fall in love with the picture perfect surroundings. Enjoy simple island pleasures at this beach, from which you can take a short boat ride to famous Pigeon Island for a day of snorkeling fun.
