Eco-Products from North-East India
The craftsmen from India’s north-eastern regions are famous for making the household handicraft products accessories using eco-friendly elements. The craftsmen of Assam and Meghalaya use bamboo or cane to manufacture tribal fishing tools, hats, toys, mats and baskets. The craftsmen of Assam also manufacture musical instruments using the bamboo strands. The artisans of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram manufacture not only the trays, smoking-pipes, baskets, ornaments, knives or storage pouches. They also manufacture lovely furnishing items using the bamboo strands. The Manipuri style cane and bamboo handicrafts come in vibrant tints with intertwined designing. The cane and bamboo products of Tripura are famous for intricate weaving patterns, innovative styling and exclusive designs. These eco-friendly handcrafted items from the North-East India look beautiful and they are extremely functional. However, these products do not receive adequate recognition due to lack of communication or technical advancement in these areas. EPCH brings these products within limelight through its Indian trade show 2018.
