Top 5 Things to do in Mackay - The best of the lot

Mackay is a fun place to be in on a holiday with friends or family, and highlighted below are some of the best things you can do and see when in the city.

1

Paddock and Brew Company

A much-needed uplift for Mackay, this American style restaurant brings in throngs of visitors on a daily basis. The juicy burgers they serve here are raved about and cost about $25 each. The chef team of the restaurant is always inventing new ways to make food taste and look better. Paddock & Brew Company is the go-to pre-party place for all youngsters over the weekends. And on any evening, you'd see people enjoying a few snacks along with an American Beer, while they get ready for a fun night out.

2

Kevin's Place

Located in a beautifully built old building on the Victoria Street, Kevin's is yet another cool hangout spot for people of all ages. You can try spicy Singaporean dishes at this place and the price isn't too high. A typical lunch at this eatery would cost about $12. The Mee Goreng here is spoken of highly and at just $18, it is a must try if you are a foodie.

3

Mackay Marina

This place might need a whole day of your attention if you are put up in a hotel or accommodation. Mackay Marina is the perfect place to go to if you want a day of wining and dining. You can always pack a picnic and take it to the waterfront, and if you are staying at Oaks Rivermarque or a similar hotel, the kitchen staff will be happy to help you out by packing a picnic basket to go. If you love fishing, then you can make a day out of this trip and go ahead and try your luck in the waters too!

4

Maria's Donkey

This charming bar and restaurant are located on the riverfront of Mackay. The service here can be inconsistent, but people say that it adds to the charm rather than annoy them. For a great time, fun memories and occasional live music performances, Maria's Donkey is a good place to head to. When it comes to drinks or food, you can order anything from Tapas to endless jugs of sangria as you please.

5

Bluewater Lagoon

Unlike the other lagoons in the country, the Bluewater Lagoon is artificial. Enjoy a reviving swim at Mackay City's Bluewater Lagoon, the pleasure of the shoreline inside the city. Three levels of tidal pond pools give a sheltered swimming condition inside the Mackay Central Business District, near grill offices, open work-out hardware and play area on Bluewater Quay. With three age-fitting tidal ponds of differing depths, an intuitive kids' water play area with water drop-can and a water slide, the tidal pond is an ideal attraction for all ages. A component waterfall interfaces the two fundamental tidal pond pools, while a shallow swimming pool is ideal for little children. The Bluewater Lagoon is observed by lifeguards, however, guardians must watch out for youngsters consistently, as the lifeguards aren't sitters. Entry is free for all.
