5 Things You Need to Pass the CPT Exam

In order for you to complete the Personal Trainer Program at AmeriTech College in Utah, you must first pass the Certified Personal Trainer exam offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). This exam will test not only your knowledge of exercise science and training programs, but will also examine your skills in goal setting, communication and professionalism. Here are some things you’ll need to pass the CPT exam.

1

Current Emergency Cardiac Care (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification.

Personal trainers work with clients at various degrees of health and fitness. It is vital for the safety of the client that the personal trainer be certified in life saving procedures. The CPT exam will test you on these procedures, so it’s best that you know them well enough to perform them at any time.

A Fed and Well Rested Brain.

Don’t show up as a zombie to the test. Get plenty of rest the night before and eat a nutritious breakfast the morning of. You’ll need to be able to access all the knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition and biomechanics you learned at AmeriTech College or whatever trade school you went to. This test is comprehensive, so it will grill you on just about everything you learned in the classroom and at your externship in a nearby Utah fitness facility.

3

A Positive Attitude.

Now that you’ve studied for three days straight and have turned into a personal trainer encyclopedia, it’s time to practice a little mind over matter. If you keep a positive attitude before, during and even after the CPT exam, you’ll be sure to pass. When it comes to testing, attitude is (almost) everything.

4

A Relaxation Technique.

You probably did great on all your exams at AmeriTech College, but if you struggle keeping your stress levels down, it might ruin your CPT score. Keep calm before the test by doing what you do best: exercise. Yoga is also a great way to relax—but, of course, you already knew that.

When you get your score back saying that you PASSED, you won’t be able to keep still.
