5 coffee shops for the caffeine-craving college student

Many college students cut out a good chunk of their day to study for their classes and catch up on homework. A favorite way to fuel these study sessions is drinking copious amounts of caffeine. The most basic option for coffee is the trusty Starbucks. However, there are a few other local options that are often overlooked. These are a few alternatives found right in Evansville while maintaining a similar price.

1

River City Coffee and Goods

River City Coffee and Goods offers over 50 different makers of products, including many local ones, and also provides customers with pour over drinks and homemade syrups. River City is located on Evansville Main Street, which allows you the opportunity to browse through the many shops found in the same area. Learn more about the products offered at River City Coffee and Goods.

River Kitty Cafe

River Kitty Cafe offers the opportunity for customers to socialize with and even potentially adopt cats from the Vanderburgh Humane Society. River Kitty also offers an area where you can simply watch the cats in a quiet atmosphere while enjoying a nice coffee made by the barista. The price for visiting the cats is about $7.00 for an hour of time. Find out more about the cats currently in the cafe here.

Wired Coffeehouse and Venue

Wired Coffeehouse and Venue consists of several parts, including White Swan Coffee Lab, a vintage shop, and is an available venue for musicians. Wired was once the location of the White Swan Steam Laundry. The owners named the section of the coffeehouse responsible for the coffee production the White Swan Coffee Lab as homage to its predecessor. Wired is involved in philanthropy by promoting awareness for many issues, such as sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and pornography, along with advocating for people with Down Syndrome and Autism.

Honey + Moon Coffee Co.

Honey + Moon Coffee Co., found on Weinbach Avenue, offers so much more than just coffee. The background of Honey + Moon is a wonderful story if you like romance. Owner Jessica Farmer paired with one of her past clients, Zac Parsons, to open their own coffee shop together. While doing research, the pair began to fall in love, and eventually got married. Honey + Moon offers a wide variety of food and drinks, ranging from an assortment of tea and coffee options, to food, and ice cream. One of the most unique things about Honey + Moon is that it offers you the opportunity to place an order online so it is ready when you arrive.

Penny Lane Coffee House

Penny Lane Coffee House has all sorts of options of food and drink, ranging from a vegan or organic pastry to sausage breakfast sandwiches. The atmosphere is very welcoming, with an eclectic mixture of people. One of Penny Lane's best opportunities is the chance to experience musicians from Evansville perform live on the weekends. Prices are about the same as those found at your local Starbucks, so you won't have to worry about price getting in the way of a new study location.
