Galle is one of the most iconic places in all of Sri Lanka, it features so much history and many activities to do. Let's look at some of the best of them.

1

Enjoy an Ice Cream at Pedlar's Inn Gelato

If you try it once, this could easily end up being a regular occurrence. You'll find this store on Pedlar Street which is one of the main shopping streets in the area. As evident by their name, Italian style ice cream is their forte. A highlight to try here would be "Frutti di Bosco" which translates to "Fruits of the Forest". It is the ideal combination of both refreshing and indulging.

2

Just take a Stroll

One thing, almost everyone including both the locals and tourists do in Galle is to simply go for a stroll. The town features a New York-style grid with roads all at right angles to each other. Each building you'll find here is either a restaurant, a hotel or a shop and thus makes for the perfect location to explore by foot.

3

Do Some Window Shopping

If you're looking to do some shopping or even window shopping, Galle has a plethora of shops to choose from. You'll find many items here both luxury and otherwise. Some excellent shops to try out here would be Spa Ceylon, Luv SL Odel as well as Barefoot. While you're exploring this list you'll find plenty of places for accommodation in Galle, one such example would be Pebbles Beach Villa.

The old lighthouse in Galle tends to be one of its most photographed locations. Likewise, you can take some wonderful holiday photos on the ramparts facing the lighthouse or directly from the base of the lighthouse itself. You'll come across a lot of families relaxing here on the ramparts towards the evening.

Eat at Lucky Fort Restaurant

If you're looking for the perfect Galle restaurant, you'll find a number of places to eat that'll offer you a myriad of different food options such as amazing burgers at Rocket Burger, delicious fish served with a Lebanese Sauce at Pedlars Inn, but do not miss an opportunity to try out the Lucky Fort Restaurant. This would probably be cheapest and busiest spot you eat from in the whole area and it's absolutely worth it. They serve an array of delicious dishes to entice your taste buds.
