List of inexpensive things to do in Phuket - Spend on comfort, save on excursions!

Phuket is an amazing and luxurious place to stay in. Let's look at some of the most inexpensive things to do while you enjoy a luxurious stay.

1

Shop for Souvenirs

The Phuket Weekend Market also known as the Naka Market is certainly one of the prime shopping destinations in Phuket in relevance to an item's choice and price. The Market is held every Saturday and Sunday in the southern part of the Phuket Town. This large market offers clothing, gadgets, beachwear and souvenir items similar to those found on the Phuket west coast, but mostly at far more interesting prices. The Phuket Week End separates into two sections both covered and open. In the covered section of the area, you'll find a whole array of secondhand jeans, curious, t-shirts, and souvenirs such as carvings and religious images as well. Within the Outside or 'new' section you will come across stalls after stalls of toys, mobile phones, electronics, DVDs and CDs, shoes, bags, jewellery and accessories, watches, more clothes and most of everything you can imagine. Towards the right of the main entrance, you'll find the food area where you can gorge on delicious buttered corn on the cob, sausages, grilled chicken, fishcakes, exotic fruit and deep-fried insects. And of course, you can top it all off with an ice-cold beer.

2

Dine on Street Food

Street food is considered one of the highlights of all of Thai cuisine. It's cheap, tasty and can be found almost anywhere and at any time of the day or night. Available through many wandering vendor stalls, you'll find snacks such as chicken satay, barbecued chicken, pork, squid, shrimp, noodle soup, fresh fruit, ice coffee, tea, chocolate and a whole lot more which are extremely popular and pretty inexpensive in Thailand. Phuket is well known for its range of fresh and succulent seafood and is rapidly gaining recognition for its street food as a great place to find excellent Thai and international food in some very picturesque venues. Street food is as authentic as it gets. Apart from Thai food, you'll find a range of Italian, Middle Eastern, Indian and Japanese food as well.

3

Explore Phuket Old Town

Phuket Old Town contains so much personality, colour, and history, it's a definite must to explore and is one of the top attractions of the Island. You'll find some of the most beautiful Chinese shrines, a huge variety of shops, breathtaking festivals and many local restaurants that serve up amazing dishes. The Old Town was constructed during the tin mining boom in the late 1800s and witnessing all its old buildings and streets will give you insight into its striking Sino Portuguese architecture. These well-preserved buildings are now home to museums as well as restaurants. Walking into these establishments could have costs but simply walking about the town and enjoying its architecture and remarkable street art is absolutely free. If you're looking for great Phuket luxury villas, Thailand has plenty on offer for you to indulge on, like Kata Rocks for example.

4

Go Snorkelling

If you crave a little adventure, Snorkelling is a great choice that is absolutely inexpensive. Phuket's splendid seas and most beaches around the island are free to explore. You can start off by purchasing a cheap mask and snorkel from a market around the area or even rent out some gear for a very minimal price. Phuket's underwater world is a truly spectacular one, with vibrant corals and colourful fish that are a truly amazing sight to behold. Best visited during the high season where calm and warm waters complement the experience.
