Top Islands in the Maldives – Sanctuaries of Splendour

Island hopping is a top adventure in the Maldives; after all, the archipelago is made up of over 1000 of them. Many boast rustic white sand beaches surrounded by crystal clear seas; here are the best.

1

Fua Mulaku

The smallest of all 26 atolls, Fua Mulaku is made up of just one island which by the way is also, the largest island in the Maldives. The most fertile of all Maldivian islands, the place is well cultivated; hence, the island is home to groves of vegetables, as well as, types of fruit which are not cultivated anywhere else on the archipelago. Fruits grown on the land include mangos, pineapples and oranges, which seem to thrive on Fua Mulaku. Utterly stunning the island is made up of white sand beaches and glistening waters, which beckon sunbathers to dive in and explore.

2

Kudahuvadhoo

Situated on the southernmost atoll of Nilandhoo, this island is home to a set of mounds known as, hawittas. Some perceive these mounds to be the remains of Buddhist shrines which have long since been forgotten and buried in the sands of time. A major feature when visiting this island is the expedition to the vintage mosque, which is a fine example of the best masonry work from ancient times.

3

Kodhipparu Maldives

One of the best house reefs is found around this island, which is part of the North Male Atoll. Home to Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives, the area is favoured for its excellent scuba diving options, coupled with wreck diving. A very convenient island, it is only 20 minutes by speedboat from the capital Male. The crystal clear waters are perfect for snorkelling and sun bleached white sand beaches ideal for lazing around on. This is the kind of island you fancy booking a stay at Maldives villas on the water, over the lagoon or with a private pool; sunny villas to spend endless days in tropical comforts

4

Mirihi Islands

A quarantined island, Mirihi is undoubtedly one of the most popular beaches on the archipelago; it is named after a flower and home to a stunning house reef and equally impressive white sand beach. Look forward to sitting under the shade of a coconut palm and simply chilling on this tranquil beach. A signature look, the whole island is dotted with verdant coconut palms and carpeted with fine white sand, plenty of tropical beach vibes there folks.

5

Nalaguraidhoo Beach

The azure blue ocean which laps at this beach is its strongest and most alluring feature. A pristine haven of powdery soft sand beaches, bleached white by the sun, this gorgeous beach is also a much visited day spot for many tourists, exploring the fabulous beaches of Maldives. A truly picture postcard perfect island, the setting here is typical of what you would expect the Maldives to be when rummaging through those travel brochures.
