Water activities at beaches - exciting beach activities you can't say no to!

Most beach-goers want to just relax on the beach, but then there are others looking for more exciting experiences. From submarine rides to aquatic scooters, here are some experiences you won't forget.

1

Go on an underwater walking tour

If you want to explore underwater but aren't a confident swimmer, or simply don't want to go through the hassle of learning to scuba dive, this is for you! Perfect for all ages, underwater walking allows you to explore life under the sea by wearing a transparent oxygen mask which allows you to breathe clearly while you walk around. The mask is lightweight and flexible so it doesn't take too much attention away from your surroundings. In addition, an instructor will guide you among the marine life and introduce you to all the underwater plants and creatures.

2

Glass-bottom boats

If you have a big group of friends, or children too young for underwater activities, a ride on a glass-bottom boat will allow the whole group to enjoy the beautiful views underwater, from the comfort and safety of a boat. These spacious boats can comfortably seat up to 8 people around a clear glass panel, once you head out into the ocean, you will be able to view marine plants, and colourful marine creatures swimming right under you. An experienced member of the crew will generally fill you in on what you're seeing and help you to spot more amazing underwater life.

3

Ride a submarine

If you really want to make your next vacation unforgettable, hop on a submarine and explore what lies beneath like all the great adventurers. A submarine ride takes you as far as 440 ft below the surface on a 45-minute ride tour. Sit in air-conditioned comfort as you are navigated around the sea, and enjoy amazing views of marine creatures as they swim close to your window. Extreme water activities tend to alienate young children since they usually have age or height requirements, but this ride won't, so its an ideal ride for families to enjoy.

4

Take part in a regatta

Competitive types will relish the opportunity for a fun-filled day of competitive water sports. The Singapore Water Sports Centre allows visitors to step up to the challenge of racing a 500m regatta course out on the water. You can find out more about the available programmes on offer on their website or if you're staying at accommodation nearby like Destination Singapore Beach Road, one of the many best value hotels in Singapore, do check with them.

5

Ride an underwater scooter

Swimming is a great way to enjoy the water but for those who are too lazy to kick their feet a bit, underwater scooters are the perfect solution. The scooters are pretty easy to manoeuvre and don't require the kind of focus that diving does. Just sit back, and whiz around the sea floor. The controls operate much like a regular motorbike, and an instructor will give you a quick crash course on how to use them before you head underwater.
