Things to Know Before you Visit the Pirates Park at Surat Thani – Learn More about this Ridiculously Cool Water Park!

Thailand has a ton of amusement parks that feature everything from water slides to rollercoasters. The Pirates Park is one of those fun water parks that make a great day out with the family.

1

It's located in Southern Thailand

Commonly referred to as simply Surat by Thai's, Surat Thani is the largest southern province of Thailand. It was once the seat of power of the Srivijaya Empire until the 13th century, and many ruins can still be seen today from that period. Modern-day Surat Thani is regarded as a busy transportation hub in the region, moving cargo and people around the country daily. The city is a rest point for many travellers on their way to Thailand's gulf islands like Ko Samui and Ko Tao, but there's also plenty to see in the city if you have time. You can sample good southern style Thai street food here as well as visit the Chinese shops and explore the many Buddhist temples around the city.

2

It's the biggest water park in Southern Thailand

The Pirates Park is the biggest water park in Thailand's southern province and covers an area of over 80,000 square meters. The water park features several thrill seeking rides, fun half-pipe slides, bouncy castles, colourful obstacle courses and large pools that are ideal for all ages to enjoy. There's also a special Child Zone for toddlers and young children who want to splash around in shallow pools, while parents can lounge on the sunbeds nearby.

Rules and regulations for entry

Before you visit, do keep in mind that the park has several clothing restrictions so dress appropriately or you might find yourself locked out! For safety reasons, the park prohibits the following clothing items to be worn: denim shorts, cut-off jeans, belts, clothing or swimwear with metal rivets/spikes or any kind of metal fasteners that might puncture or damage the rides or property. Shoes of any kind are not allowed on slides or tube rides and must be kept in a bag when not in use. Entry tickets can be purchased at the gate or booked ahead on the park's website.

4

Food and Drinks

You can't take food or beverages from outside into the park with you, but don't worry, there are places to buy snacks inside the park. There's a canteen near the entrance that sells Thai snacks and drinks, as well as providing some relief from the hot sun. In addition, there's a restaurant in the park with air-conditioning that is ideal for cooling off at when the heat gets too much.

5

Plan your accommodation for your visit

There are a few accommodation options in the city itself but if you are looking for something a bit more contemporary and luxurious, then you will have to look further out of the city, toward the gulf islands. The holiday islands are home to several resorts like Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort for example, one of the Koh Samui 5 star resorts, and can easily be reached by ferry.
