One of the key and most important things to remember when visiting the Maldives is your budget. Definitely, plan your expenditure as this will help you out immensely. By arriving with a clear budget in mind, you'll have an idea of how much you can save. After arrival, you can travel to your resort via speedboat and this is usually covered by the resort. If your resort is quite far, you'll have to take a seaplane and this will cost you as resorts do not generally cover this. Another key point to note is that water bottles are generally expensive at resorts, sometimes 3 times more than what they are at the airport. You could easily stock up on some bottles from the airport which should save you some money. The season you choose to travel in will also affect your budget, as travelling during offseason guarantees lower rates at most resorts. The problem with off-season travel though is that most attractions will not be in operation. In terms of currency, it's always advised to carry dollars with you or use cards at your resorts. Exchanging to local currency can be done, but the reverse of which is quite troublesome.
