Adani Vidya Mandir aims to offer education to poor children free of cost. Priti Adani, wife of prominent industrialist Gautam Adani, spearheads this initiative. Children whose parents have an annual income of less than Rs 1,50,000 are allowed to be enrolled into the institution. Apart from education, the children are also provided with notebooks, textbooks, breakfast, lunch, uniform, transportation and counselling. Started with just three classes in 2008, this CBSE-affiliated school now hosts 1,100 students in total and education is given from Class III to XII.
"Project Udaan", this initiative has benefitted around 1.5 lakh students covering 1,600 schools and colleges across India.
The major objective behind organising such trips is to encourage young minds to develop an interest in all sorts of enterprises and to encourage them to dream big in life. It is being used to empower communities, enhance life quality and instill hope for a better future. Run by the Adani Foundation, "Udaan" has a presence in 13 states in India. In order to expand the reach of education across the country, Adani Foundation inaugurated a CBSE school by the name of Adani Vidya Mandir as well as a vocational training centre called Kaushal Vikas Kendra in Chattisgarh.
Adani Foundation has partnered with 'Room to Read' to implement the project 'Utthan'. The project was formally inaugurated on April 21, 2018, at Bhat Primary School, Bhat, Gandhinagar.Bhupendrasinh Manubha Chudasama, Minister for Education (Primary, Secondary and Adult), Higher and Technical Education, Law and Justice, Legislative and Parliamentary affairs, Salt Industry, Cow-Breeding and Civil Aviation was the esteemed chief guest at the inauguration.
UPCL, owned by Adani Group along with its CSR wing Adani Foundation, distributed scholarships worth Rs 76 lakh to meritorious students residing in the vicinity of the plant. The scholarships were distributed to 2,158 students at St Francis Xavier School Ground in Mudarangadi. The programme was inaugurated by Rev Father Francis Lewis, Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Mudarangadi, and Adani UPCL joint president Kishore Alva.
