5 Bingeworthy Shows Guaranteed To Have You Hooked During Maternity Leave

Maternity leave is the perfect excuse to relax and sink into an addictive show. You're inside all day with your new little buddy. When you find a break between sleeping and tending to every need of your little one, pop one of these on and instantly get hooked. Everything below is at least an hour long, more than five seasons, and can be found on Netflix.

Shameless

Shameless

Omg. First off... Emma Rossum as Fiona is freaking gorgeous. Her real life husband though?? All I can do is scratch my head and wonder how they happened.

This U.S remake of the British series was originally pitched as a southern trailer park show about a family of 7 living below the poverty line. Thank God the producer pushed for Southside Chicago instead. Poverty exists everywhere. Not just in cliche settings.

You've got a seriously flawed alcoholic father who is the driving force behind the show. He's self-centered, absent, and successfully gets over on people for his own benefit. Raised by their older sister, the kids continuously make bad decisions that will annoy you to the core. (Like purposely getting pregnant with no job or plan) And of course they have no shame in doing so.

Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy

Now,
Be extremely cautious with this one. There is so much going on throughout this show. Love, loss, mass shootings, airplane crashes...all taking place in the messy confines of Seattle Grace hospital.

All of the characters are so freaking likeable. You will have your favorites. But don't fall in love. They will unexpectedly leave the show. You will be hurt and confused.

The worst part about this show is how they build up these beautiful, tumultuous romantic relationships only to have them disintegrate. I still haven't gotten over Christina and Owen. After awhile I gave up on this show. Seasons 1-10 were amazing. But enough is enough ABC. Cancel the shit already.

And don't watch over a bottle of wine. You will ugly cry a lot.

Matter of fact don't watch this show at all. It's too much of an emotional rollercoaster.

But it does hurt really good....

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

Zombies!!! The latter half of this decade was literally overtaken by zombies and vampires. Everywhere you look there's another movie or tv show about these enthralling species.

TWD doesn't have any vampires but it has Rick Grimes and Darryl Dixon. 2 bad-asses I want to be just like when I grow up. Loosely based off the comic book serious it's about so much more than killing zombies. It's about relationships. When the world ends, there's limited resources, and most people are out for themselves, all you have is the people in your circle that you can trust.

P.S...

Despite the claims that ratings have died a little bit, I could care less. This show continues to make Sundays my favorite day of the week.

Mad Men

Mad Men

I always thought that Jon Hamm, the guy that plays the tortured soul Don Draper, had an extremely large head. I was never attracted to him. After the first episode though, I became obsessed with his whole career. That man is beautiful. My husband knows how I feel and he's okay with it.

Showrunner, Matthew Weiner, takes us on a ride through the glamorous 60s' in white America. Don Draper's seemingly perfect life couldn't be farther from the truth. The top dog at a Madison Avenue advertising firm, Draper is extremely f**ked up. He takes cheating and emotional affairs to a whole new level. He's arrogant. He's alcohol dependent. He's smart. He's a leader. He's complex.

Cigarettes and alcohol play a prominent role during the workday. I loved how everyone's office was stocked to the brim and shots were thrown back before big business meetings. I don't know how much of this was the actual norm back then but it's fascinating to watch.

Next to Buffy The Vampire Slayer, this may be one of my top favorite shows.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

I'd imagine most of the world has already seen every episode but for the small groups of people that haven't... you need to do better.

(I'm kidding and don't mean to offend) (I'm serious at the same time.) The cult following of Buffy has even led to COLLEGE COURSES! deemed with the title, "Buffy Studies."

Anyway, at 15, Buffy was"activated" as the chosen one to slay evil and protect the world from the hellmouth. Almost every episode contains a real world life lesson you can gain like, don't go to college parties in high school. But if you do, don't leave your drink unattended. This is hands down my favorite show in the entire world. I could probably re-binge this once a year.
