A food festival to celebrate Australia Day, Great Australian Bites is a four day festival that houses an array of cuisines from many restaurants – basically any foodie's dream. The food festival takes place at South Bank Parkland's River Quay which serves as a beautiful backdrop. Picnic baskets and drinks are also available while live entertainment is always on to keep up the atmosphere. The excellent location is also great for watching the electrifying Australia Day fireworks. All in all, there is no better way to start off the long weekend than dropping by here. St Jerome's Laneway Festival

The decade old music festival has rapidly risen to stardom and is now unquestionably the best music festival in the country. Promoters Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers' have done the impossible and found the right medium between great atmosphere and independent music – the two main ingredients for a great music festival. The festival tours many cities but the Brisbane show is the highlight, partly in thanks to the spacious location at RNA Showgrounds.

If the summer weather gets the better of you, dip into the Spring Hill Baths. These heritage listed baths were constructed back in the eighteenth century and were the first of its kind in the city.
