10 Things to Do in Krabi - A Checklist for the Complete Vacation

Krabi is one of the most sought-after islands in Thailand. It is a place for constant motion as the island cover a larger area. That also means there is plenty to do here.

1

Visit the Railay beach

The Railay beach is one of the most secluded places on earth. It is cut off from the mainland by sheer rocks and limestone cliffs, thus can be reached only by boat. It is a place of white sand and a few bars. None of the hotels in Krabi has made it to Railay beach, so you are up for some alone time.

2

Visit Thung Teao Forest Natural Park

Home to the famous Emerald Poo, the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park has many attractions. There is endemic wildlife, a great plant life, and even a waterfall to keep you occupied during the visit.

3

Visit Phi Phi Islands

Phi Phi Islands are the celebrities of Krabi. Being one of the main locations for the film "The Beach", it is now swarming with tourists. There are two islands - Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don. The latter is the most popular as a tropical paradise.

4

Dip in the Klong Thom Hot Springs

Natural hot springs are a rarity, even among the most exotic locations. The hot springs of Krabi are fed by deep springs that arise from the bosom of volcanic chambers. The water is said to have healing properties due to the various minerals it contains.

5

Climb Khao Khanab Nam Mountains

Being one of the - if not the most - famous landmarks of Krabi, these two mountains are a must visit. At the bottom of the mountains are a series of caves that are simply spectacular.

6

Spend a day at Koh Kraden

Secluded and tucked into solitude. Koh Kraden is often termed the most beautiful Trang island. It has stretches and stretches of soft white sand, and a reef of colourful corals. The private beach club of Anantara Si Kao Resort is located on Koh Kraden as well.

7

Wander through the Krabi Town

Unlike most of the tourist destinations, the town of Krabi has not changed its look and feel to cater to the booming tourist market. There is a river that languidly flows through the town, setting the pace at which the town itself moves.

8

Visit the fish cemetery

One of the three such geological wonders in the world, Susan Hoi is commonly called a fish cemetery. It is a stretch of limestone deposits that have grown to cover the shellfish of the area, fossilizing them through natural means.

9

Shop at night

No visit to Krabi is complete without visiting a night market. Open from Friday to Sunday once the sun goes down, the night market of Krabi has stalls selling everything from souvenirs to street food. The local children often perform little skits at these markets too.

10

Let loose at Ao Nang Beach

While not that breathtaking by the standards of Krabi beaches, Ao Nang is where the nightlife happens. It has a lively ambience and an upbeat rhythm to it. If you want to let loose, meet some new people, and party til the early hours of the morning, this is the place to go.
