Top Rated Tourist Attractions in Seychelles – A Place of Pristine Geographical Splendour

Situated off the coast of East Africa is Seychelles, one of the most beautiful tropical destinations in the world, and in a short while has risen out of obscurity to become a thriving tourist destination.

1

Anse Intendance, Mahé

The largest island in Seychelles is Mahé, which has a surface area of around 160km2. There are many beaches on this island, and one that is particularly renowned for her beauty is Anse Intendance. It is situated on the island's southern coastline and offers a secluded beach setting. Anse Intendance doesn't have a reef cover, so waves can be quite wild, with some big swells happening quite consistently, making it a good spot for surfers. The fine powdery sands and the backdrop of lush tropical flora ensure that the beach is ideal for soaking up the sun.

2

Vallée de Mai

Among the many UNESCO World Heritage Sites across the planet, this is definitely one of the most unique, as well as the most ancient, since it largely consists of a pristine rainforest that was undisturbed for millennia. There are many uniquely endemic and endangered species to be seen here, such as the Seychelles Black Parrot, of which there are only less than a thousand left in the world. The hallmark of Vallée de Mai, however, has to be the Coco de Mer, which is a unique species of coconut tree that produces double-coconuts, with some weighing as much as forty-five kilograms.

3

Anse Lazio, Praslin

If you make your way to the second largest of Seychelles' islands, Praslin, then you can discover Anse Lazio at her northern shore. This is truly a picture-perfect beach in every possible way. The powder sands meet water that is transparently clear at first, before gently turning into a shade of perfect turquoise. If you're looking for a romantic island destination, this is probably one of the best examples in the entire world.

4

George Camille Gallery

It would be a shame to visit Seychelles without experiencing the amazing work of one of the nation's most prolific artists. There are many galleries of his throughout the nation but the most striking one to explore would be Kaz Zanana, which is conveniently located in Mahé. The gallery is within easy reach of many a Seychelles beach resort, making it easily accessible if you're staying somewhere like AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa. George Camille's work extends across a multitude of mediums which include etching, pastel, painting, pencil and acrylic.

5

Dauban Mausoleum

This is one of the most hauntingly beautiful of the historical attractions in Seychelles. It's a particularly striking structure, with European architectural elements, that acts as a testament to the wealth of the Dauban family. It also offers an interesting insight into the level of prosperity that was present on the island during the time of its construction. If you ever wish to visit this mausoleum you can find it on Silhouette Island, which is situated north of the main island of Mahé. It's definitely a sight you won't forget and is one of the most unique attractions in the nation.
