Top Experiences in Coolangatta – Making the Most out of your Vacation

A refreshing change from what the rest of the Gold Coast has to offer, the Coolangatta is a favourite place for a family getaway. Loaded with beach fun and plenty more, there is lots to experience here.

1

Learn to Surf

Coolangatta is one place that truly is great for surfing. For one the waves are wild and for the other the weather is almost always inviting. If you want a beach holiday it is well known that Coolangatta does not disappoint and if you are a surfer you will find this destination even more appealing. In fact visiting Coolangatta gives one a temptation to surf. If you are a pro all you need to do is delve in and the waves are yours to ride on. However amateurs can't quite say the same. To address this issue Coolangatta has a couple of surf centres and surf clubs where even those who have no clue of the sport can master it.

2

Be at 2 places at Once

If you have watched the 'Walk to Remember' you will get some idea of how cool it is to be at 2 places at one time. Best part is in Coolangatta you have an opportunity to do just that. All you need to do is get yourself to the rocky headland and Captain Cook Memorial and Lighthouse which is located at the Queensland/New South Wales border. Then you need to place one foot in New South Whales and the other foot in Queensland. Voila! You are officially at 2 different places and time zones even, at one time. An added advantage to this experience is the scenery you will encounter on your walk up to the border.

Visit the Iconic spot in Coolangatta

There is one spot in Coolangatta that is iconic to this city and the main reason for this is that it is the very place from which Coolangatta got its name. In fact if you are wondering where the name Coolangatta came from, it is actually the name of the schooner Coolangatta which got wrecked at the Duranbah Beach all the way back in the year 1846. Today you can actually visit the Duranbah beach which is highly popular among pro surfers. This beach is located between Point Danger and Tweed River Mouth. In fact Point Danger is just 5 minutes from Oaks Calypso Plaza which is one Coolangatta hotel that you can opt to stay at.

4

Have fun in the Theme Parks

Coolangatta has theme parks and if you are travelling with the family this is definitely one attraction which will have the whole brood jumping for joy. Prepare to encounter all your favourite rides for that's what the Theme Parks in Coolangatta have in store.

5

Get active with the kids

Since Coolangatta is blessed with a plethora of beaches, you will have plenty of places to get active with the kids. There is one particular Greenmount Beach which has a protected swimming area that is safe for little swimmers. Build sand castles, ride bikes, skate or roller blade; you can do it all in Coolangatta.
