The Singapore Zoo

Singapore Zoo is a popular attraction amongst both kids and adults; after all, the place offers you a chance to have breakfast with the orang-utans. Welcoming around 1.6 million visitors a year, the zoo is very popular for its exotic collection of animals. The free-range habitat adds a very realistic and laid back ambience to the place, as you walk around an observe animals in their natural habitat. Hence, photographers should not miss out on a chance to capture the wildlife, sans bars or cages. If you are a guest at Grand Park Orchard, the zoo will be a mere 23 minutes by car, and is well worth scheduling into your list of places to visit.

Merlion Park

The iconic symbol will loom ahead as you get close to the Merlion Park; located at One Fullerton this symbol is cherished as Singapore's pride. The statue which is 28 feet is made up of a lion's head and fish's body, which symbolises the country's origins as a poor fisher community. Take along the cameras for beautiful vistas of Marina Bay are yours to savour from the precinct of the statue. Entrance to the park is free.

Jurong Bird Park

This park has one of the world's largest aviaries; as well as a massive waterfall, which at 32 feet is the tallest artificial cascade in the world. The tropical setting is quite amazing, as it allows visitors to experience free-flying birds from the tropical regions of South America and Africa. The 50 acre sanctuary is designed to offer a similar environ, to which the birds are accustomed and serves as an educational centre as well; with shows and programmes taking place daily. You can see pelicans in action underwater, as well as, catch the Birds n Buddy show which displays an impressive and vast collection of birds. The aviary is located at Jurong Hill.

The Singapore Night Safari

The night safari park offers a pretty awesome adventure once night falls and is well worth experiencing no matter where you are staying at be it at budget hostels in the city or 5 star hotels in Orchard Road, Singapore. Hop on the train and journey through settings that resemble the wilds of Africa, and the gorgeous foothills of the Himalayas. The 40 minute journey across the park will reward you with sights of over a 1,000 animals, amongst which are tigers, tapirs, lions and more. Made up of eight geographical areas, the park lets you see the animals in natural habitats; there is also a lovely souvenir shop where you can pick up a few gifts and mementoes to take back with you.

Enjoy a Duck Tour

A fun way to visit more iconic attractions across the city is the Duck Tour. A remodelled WWII craft will take you across land and water to view the country's popular landmarks, scenic bays, historical sites and modern skyline. Ducktainers, who join the tour, ensure you stay updated on the passing sights while keeping the humour flowing for a fun and memorable tour.
