Maldives has a proud history that dates as far back as 1500BCE. Therefore, you'll be able to explore many wonderful ruins here. One of the finest of them is the Old Friday Mosque or Hukuru Miskiiy as its called in the local tongue. This stunning mosque is in the capital of Malé and happens to be the oldest in the nation as it was built in 1656. The beautiful mosque is entirely made of coral stone and has elaborate Quranic scripture carved on to it.
One thing to note before visiting the Old Friday Mosque to dress modestly, as you won't be granted entry otherwise. Also make sure to not show any sign of affection such as kissing or hugging as its illegal to do so in public areas, especially in places of reverence such as mosques.
