Five UK Festive Destinations to Get You Feeling Christmassy!

As Christmas is fast approaching, the UK prepares with various Christmas inspired events and celebrations. With so many fun opportunities to embrace the festivities, where are the best places to go this season? Check out my list of places where Christmas is already in full swing and help you get in the mood for the big day!

Sparkling Lights and Shopping in London

London always has something going on and Christmas is the busiest and prettiest time of year for the capital. The sparkling Christmas lights of Oxford Street never go unnoticed as they lead the way to London’s biggest Christmas attraction, Winter Wonderland. During this season, Hyde Park transforms with plenty of rides, wooden chalets and mulled wine for all! If you don’t fancy taking a trip into the capital, Kew Gardens is also a great attraction in Surrey, because when darkness falls… there is a breath taking light display illuminating this tropical haven!

Cosy Cottages and Glowing Lanterns in Cornwall

The dainty coastal towns in Cornwall are home to a wonderful array of independent shops and Christmas markets. Don’t miss the Penzance Winter Solstice which celebrates the ‘coming of light’ with lots of Cornish dancing, local food and a fantastic lantern parade. It is definitely a destination where you can spend a short break over the festive period as there are lots of holiday cottages in Cornwall that are cosy and picturesque - with some even looking like Santa’s Grotto! There are plenty of opportunities for that all important post-Christmas dinner walk, whether you fancy a seaside stroll or forest walk; Cornwall really has it all.

Stunning Scenery and Christmas Markets in the Cotswolds

Similarly, if you don’t fancy travelling as far as Cornwall, the Cotswolds offers stunning scenery and plenty of festive spirit! Bath is famous for its Christmas market which provides many opportunities to buy locally made gifts for your loved ones. This market gets bigger and better every year with over 170 wooden chalets lining the charming streets of Bath. If you have little ones, why not visit Prinknash park which is home to none other than Santa’s reindeers!

Santa's Elves and Festive Magic in Berkshire

Although the Cotswolds boast a fair amount of Christmas spirit, nothing looks as festive as Lapland UK! This is a fantastic option for those with young children looking to kickstart that festive feeling. This magical place is the full package where kids can make toys with Santa’s elves and speak to the big man himself, Santa! Of course, this fun filled destination did not forget about the adults. There are many opportunities for the not-so-little-ones to sip on mulled wine, eat festive goodies and buy bespoke Christmas décor items for their home.San

Ice Sculptures and Toasty Treats in Liverpool

Get ready for the festive season by visiting the Ice Festival in Liverpool! This will probably be the most fun packed chilly event you will ever experience. Relax at the ice bar with a drink whilst admiring the amazing ice sculptures or whizz down the UK’s longest slide ice slide before grabbing a toasty treat from one of the wooden chalets. Do you ever wish you could be in a Christmas movie? Well now you can! Relive your childhood memories with a trip to the Home Alone Bar! Taking place at Cains Brewery Village, this is almost a replica of the famous household just with added festivities like cocktail bars and Christmas bands.
