What to pack for a beach holiday in Kalutara – Plan right and travel light!

A well-planned beach vacation at the beautiful town of Kalutara in the southern suburbs of Sri Lanka is ideal to set your mind off the busy life schedule once in a while.

1

Pack your clothes

Whether your holiday plan is for a beach vacation or not, packing your clothes smart is essential to avoid any unnecessary load on your baggage. This gets a little bit tricky if you are a woman or if you are travelling with your family. However, if you plan right it is not very difficult to organize your suitcase in such a way that you will definitely have at least one proper attire for any kind of event that might come up during your vacation. First, you will need to pack your swimsuits and cover-ups as ideally, you will be spending most of your time on the beach itself. Then you can include one or two light casual clothes or sundresses for your lunch outings and shopping tours. Don't forget that Sri Lanka is a tropical country, so you will be more comfortable with soft cotton clothing. Take a decent dinner outfit with you so that you can decide to hop in a happening dinner bash or just create impression on your partner on a romantic dinner out.

2

Beach Accessories

If you are planning to spend some time snorkelling and scuba diving, it might be useful to carry your diving equipment with you unless you don't mind hiring them. For the family travellers, your kids might love to have a few of their favourite beach toys with them. Most importantly take your shades, hat, and waterproof sunscreen with you, as there is a chance you might be greeted with a glaring sun at midday, which is a little rough to take in. A blanket or two will come in handy if you want to lie down and relax on the sandy beach.

3

Toiletries

Most of the star rated hotels like Turyaa Kalutara provide essential toiletries, but you may prefer to use your usual brands. In such cases, pack a small bag of toiletries including your shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. You will also need your perfume, deodorant, lotions, and cream as well as the small accessories like the comb, hairbrush, razor, and hair clips.

4

Personal items

You don't need to panic in the middle of your holiday looking for your passport or credit card, so get a small waist belt bag, hip pouch, or something similar and put all your personal belongings into that. These include the passports, visa, credit or debit cards, insurance, hotel booking confirmation, and cash. You should be very cautious and careful not to lose this bag, so it is best to keep it in the hotel safe when you are relaxing on the beach. Don't forget to take your medicine with you, especially if you are on a routine dose or having any allergies.

5

Entertainment and technological needs

Apart from swimming and holidaying in the beach, there are many things to do in Kalutara, but it is always fun to have a beach volleyball session with your friends or family. You can also play Frisbee or basketball, or just curl up and read a good book under the shade of a beach umbrella. Take a pack of cards with you if you have partners to play with. You also need to pack your phone chargers and any other electronic equipment that you need. Always remember that your camera is your best friend when you are holidaying on such a beautiful island like Sri Lanka.
