New Unit Construction In Charleston Is Booming, But Options Exist In Nearby Locations

No one is questioning South Carolina’s resurgence in popularity, but a recent spate of new construction projects proves in sheer brick-and-mortar terms that more newcomers need more places to live in Charleston among other locations.

Newspapers

According an Oct. 29, 2017 article from The Post and Courier newspaper, peak construction of new residential building across South Carolina is expected to peak in 2018 and continue for another decade at least. The newspaper states that 13,000 new constructions will rise in Charleston alone, but there’s a need for a total of 63,000 units in total come 2030. These figures were calculated by the National Apartment Association and the National Multifamily Housing Council, which found that 7,200 of the needed 13,000 in Charleston are currently under construction.

Luxury Rentals

The catch here, according to the newspaper, is that the lion’s share of these buildings aren’t exactly “affordable” and are “luxury rentals.” That’s bad news for cash-strapped millennials looking to relocate or those at or near retirement age who are seeking comfortable digs in laid-back locations. However, we have good news for those looking for great housing options and it can be found through trusting a local real estate company with decades of combined experience in South Carolina.

Construction

For starters, the construction that’s going on is centered around urban areas and that doesn’t always appeal to people who can’t stand such a claustrophobic lifestyle. Thus, we recommend researching Mount Pleasant SC real estate as a way to escape the hustle and bustle. Although Mount Pleasant is South Carolina’s fifth-largest city, the 60,000 people who call it home enjoy life in a place often referred to as the “pleasant side of the river.” That’s the Cooper River, and those who choose to look into Mount Pleasant real estate will soon learn to love the relaxing views it provides alongside tidal marshes.

Real Estate

Another option for those looking for a lifestyle outside of the city limits is through Summerville SC real estate. Given its location of just 30 minutes from historic downtown Charleston and the fact that the local school district has been ranked among the best in South Carolina, it’s no surprise that many more folks are researching Summerville SC real estate. Known as “The Flower Town in the Pines,” spring flower blossoms are both a treat for residents and a draw for tourists, which keeps the town’s economic engine humming.
