QuickBooks has been working as backbone of the accounts and finance department in many small and large scale businesses all over the world. The software has established itself as a must need for accounting purposes, especially when it achieves 5 people’s workload that too with full efficiency and almost zero errors.
Many people even make their purchase decisions for buying new computer or laptop hardware based on their QuickBooks compatibility. If you are one of the hardcore users of QuickBooks and want to transfer your QuickBooks software to a new devices, here’s what you need to do.
1. Computer B- For the first step, you need to install your original QuickBooks version in your new device through the original disk or the original installed copy of the version. And remember to use the original installation codes which you received with the software.
2. Computer B- In this step, you need to install the latest updates. In case you are not able to update your QuickBooks then you can click on help and install the updates from there. This step important for having the same version in both the devices.
3. Computer A- Now that you have updated the QuickBooks on your computer B, you can create a backup using any medium, but make sure it can be accessed by the computer B. The backup can be create on an offline storage device as well an online storage service. You can even create a portable file from the software itself, in case of any storage issue.
4. Computer B- After you have made a backup, transfer it to the new device. Now, run the software as you normally would and select the “Open or restore an existing company” option. After that, click on restore a portable file (in case you made a portable copy) or restore a backup copy (in case you made a regular copy).
5. Computer B- A popup will appear after you will choose a backup copy option, from here navigate the file which you have copy pasted in the device and select the file to load the data.
6. Computer B- You also have a choice of restoring the data at your desired location, like a new folder you want to create or a QuickBooks suggested location.
After these steps the data should be restored completely and you can continue your work as it is. In case you have transfer the data to another device, follow these exact steps.
Take note, the steps would be different in QuickBooks for mac 2017 or any other version for that matter.
