Announcing the Microsoft Education Exchange 2018 – Microsoft EDU

We are pleased to announce this year’s Microsoft Education Exchange (E2) event will be held in Singapore, from March 13 through March 15, 2018. We chose Singapore as host country because of its highly regarded education system, quoted to be “the world’s best education system,” according to an OECD-led study. Singapore is rated first in math and science and has one of the highest literacy rates in the world. E2 2018 will be hosted in Singapore with the support of local and international governments.

New survey shows U.S. educators increasingly turning to Skype to teach empathy and compassion – Microsoft EDU

92 percent of teachers and 84 percent of parents surveyed say it's more important than ever to teach students about compassion and cultural understanding. The survey also found that 93 percent of teachers and 89 percent of parents say that face-to-face communication via Skype in the Classroom is an effective tool to teach students empathy. Today, as we kick off our annual Skype-a-Thon around the world, we will see this in action with an estimated half a million students taking the first step to connect, to be curious and, ultimately, to open their hearts and minds.

This year has not been a great year for multimedia software. Google ended support for YouTube’s free online video editor, and Microsoft did the same with the popular Windows Live Movie Maker. Although there are plenty of other options for both sets of users, people did get kind of attached to these video editors and not everyone is ready to pay for an alternative, (or switch to a Mac). While Google has yet to make any real attempt to replace the YouTube Editor, Microsoft has just added video editing features to the latest version of the Windows 10 Photos app. So, is this the Windows Movie Maker replacement you have been waiting for? It depends.
