Surfing

Being an Island surrounded by the beautiful Indian Ocean and with its sunny, warm weather all year round, Sri Lanka owns some of the best surfing spots in the world. The ocean surrounding the Island is always in a very lively and playful mood, generating perfect waves that crash on each other inviting the surfers to enjoy their ride to the fullest. The best surf spots can be found in the southern and eastern coasts. Hikkaduwa is the most famous surf destination in the southern area while Arugambay comes on top of the list in the eastern coast.

Hikkaduwa, Weligama, and Kirinda are famous sites in the southern part of Sri Lanka. The Pigeon Island located north of Trincomalee is the favourite site on the eastern coast.

Bentota beach, Negambo beach, and Kalpitiya beach are few places that offer nice jet skiing experiences. Deep Sea Diving

The ocean surrounding the Sri Lankan Island is one of the best and safest locations to go on a deep sea dive. The water stays warm most of the days of the year, and the visibility is ranging from 10-25 metres during the high and low seasons. There are many well-known dive sites like the Barracuda reef, Taprobane reefs, Goda Gala Diyamba, Cargo wreck, British Sergeant wreck, and Boiler wrecks. The marine life in the dive sites attract the divers as much as the secrets of the past lying hidden in the depth of the ocean.

Kite Surfing

You can take surfing to the next step with this adventurous kite surf which is made of a huge kite tied onto a surfboard which holds the surfer onto it with tight foot straps. The kite is skilfully handled by the surfer to harness the wind power and glide towards the direction of the wind. Kalpitiya is one of the favourite spots for kite surfers due to its consistent windy conditions. The easiest way to reach many of these famous locations is using a domestic air taxi service such as Cinnamon Air.

White Water Rafting

If you love water sports, white water rafting is one of the best things to do in Sri Lanka. Kitulgala is the best rafting location providing a thrilling experience on the unruly Kelani River.
