As a part of our efforts for Continuous School Improvement (CSI), teachers of the Middle Programme at Heritage Xperiential Learning School engaged in a 2 day session of comprehensive analysis of data from areas such as student learning, school processes, and perception data. This effort will help the teachers understand the current state and identify ways of improving teaching and learning. One of the most effective ways to bring ownership for teaching and learning community through commitment, not compliance.
Establishing an engaged and motivated team of skilled educators is the first step to advancing student achievement. Senior program teachers at Heritage Xperiential Learning School embarked on a journey of self-discovery to create a vision with an authentic soul for the program. The session started with teachers exploring various forms of art and maker activities facilitated by in-house experts. On the second and third day, Smriti Jain, founder IAAT, anchored the sessions aimed at identifying our personal visions, raise aspirations, inspire and transform the energies to articulate a coherent vision for the program rooted in the core Heritage values.

The first Human Framework ‘tip’ I’d like to offer our community is: take 5 to 10 minutes quietly reflect and/or journal about how you would like to grow as a parent. What do you struggle with most in parenting? What situations do you want to handle better? What tend to be your triggers where you lose your patience or your temper? Is there anything that doesn’t feel like it comes naturally that you want to improve upon? Are there any patterns of how you and your child interact that you wish to break out of? In what ways would you appreciate support?
Exploring these questions is a crucial ongoing process as a parent. By courageously taking the time to honestly answer these questions, you open yourself up to proactively addressing these challenges. You open yourself to exploring new ways of being. This is a game-changing first step.
Remember, though, to be kind to yourself, to not judge yourself. Parenting perfection is not only not possible, but also not ideal – our children’s well-being requires us to model making mistakes, apologizing, acknowledging how we strive to grow, and moving forward with new learning. If we want our children to be confident, resilient, open-hearted learners, then we must continue lovingly working on ourselves.
