Seychelles' 6 most spectacular beaches

Seychelles is an archipelago of islands that is home to various coral reefs, exotic flora and fauna and some of the most beautiful beaches the world has ever seen.

1

Anse Source D'Argent

Anse Source D'Argent is undoubtedly a stunning beach and often takes the top spot for the best beaches in the world. Located on Seychelle's West Coast, the beach is the perfect place to snap an iconic Seychelles beach pic. Pink rocks, water in myriad shades of blue and glistening white sand are aplenty here. Aesthetic value aside, the beach does have its downsides. It is not ideal for swimming as its waters are shallow and the ample corals and rocks found here make it an uncomfortable spot to walk over. The sunset is mesmerising at Anse Source D'Argent. Unfortunately, the grounds of L'Union Estate are off-limits past 5 pm.

2

Anse Lazio

Anse Lazio is a tourist favourite though it rarely gets overcrowded. The beach is the perfect spot for those seeking solitude. On arriving early in the morning, visitors may have the fortune of having the beach to themselves. Swimming is considered safe here though waves can always get rough on even the calmest of days. Massive Takamaka trees provide shade for those who enjoy relaxing on the sand. The drive to Anse Lazio is relatively easy with signposts guiding the way and a car park awaiting the arrival of visitors. It is possible to journey by bus to Anse Lazio, but the ride back down a steep hill may prove to be challenging for travelers. The 500 m stretch of beach is home to the two restaurants, Bonbon Plume as well as Le Chevalier. The Bonbon Plume is considered to have the best Creole food available on Mahé Island.

3

Anse Intendance

Anse Intendance is a 1 km stretch of unspoiled beach on Mahé Island. The site boasts of ample space for visitors to explore and is a popular location amongst surfers. The beach's waves tend to be rough, so swimming is not recommended throughout the year except June through September. The beach is easily accessible to some of the island's most sought-after resorts for tourists on Mahé Island. Many of these hotels and resorts plant safety flags on the beach daily as a forewarning of the danger involved relative to the strength of the waves.

4

Anse Georgette

Anse Georgette is another breathtaking and virtually untouched beach that features stunning, turquoise ocean water, pristine fine white sand, swaying palm trees and a cool breeze. Most of the visitors to the beach are tourists to the area residing in nearby resorts drawn to the many exotic experiences Seychelles has to offer. The beach offers world-class views and the perfect environment for snorkelling and swimming. Visitors should note, however, that the water tends to get deep very quickly due to a lack of protection from an offshore coral reef. Therefore, children and inexperienced swimmers are to be supervised at all times. Finally, Anse Georgette is perfect for photographers, with the picturesque scenery from the top of the hill being a noteworthy moment of any Seychelles vacation.

5

Beau Vallon Beach

Beau Vallon Beach is the most frequented beach on the North West coast of Mahé Island in the Seychelles. It is an acclaimed spot for diving and snorkelling with its crystal clear waters and stunning coral reefs. The location is populated with many luxury hotels and resorts such as Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino due to the influx of tourists the place is host to, all year round. In spite of Beau Vallon being the Seychelles leading tourist attraction, it remains a low-key and relaxed place for an island getaway. For visitors to the region from Europe, Beau Vallon Beach and its surrounding areas may be reminiscent of a quaint, sleepy, beachside village.
