Broadcast TV Dramas, Comedies, NFL Football Make Strong Showing In Coveted Category

In a showing that may come as a surprise to some, “Sunday Night Football” on NBC took top honors in week 3 of broadcast network programming and raked in more than 16 million viewers. This was in the coveted 18-49 demographic during the week of Oct. 9 through 15, 2017, according to industry figures.

1

Viewership

These viewership totals also stem from an age group that’s undergoing a major shift regarding the way people watch TV -- but more on that later. Reports of the NFL’s death must have been greatly exaggerated, to paraphrase Mark Twain, because a first place showing during the fall 2017 television line-up is no small feat. Second-place isn’t too bad, either, and that’s exactly what happened during this week of programming.

2

Entertainment

According to figures from Tribune Media Entertainment, “Thursday Night Football” on CBS won the second-place spot in week 3, again dispelling the popular opinion that television football was struggling to gain and even retain viewers. In fact, the Thursday night programming pulled approximately 14.6 million viewers. Tribune figures show that modern TV mainstay ”The Big Bang Theory” as well as newcomer “This Is Us” made a good showing, but “NCIS” raked in the largest number of viewers with 13.61 million viewers. Additional shows that made a respectable showing in the 18-49 group include “60 Minutes,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and ABC’s “The Good Doctor.”

Clear TV Channels

What do these stats mean for those looking into cable television alternatives and Clear TV channels? For starters, quality programming on ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox should prove to viewers that the cable TV bundle they are paying about $100 per month for is excessive and unnecessary. In an era when just about everything can be had on-demand, how many of us are carving out time from our busy scheduled to watch TV during the week? Instead, we’re looking to stay in the loop and entertain ourselves on our own terms. This is where Clear TV channels come into play, because all you need to access them is a digital television antenna. That means you can catch the shows you want to watch when you’ve got time and if you miss one, no big deal because you weren’t paying absurd amounts of money for it in the first place! What channels can a Clear TV digital antenna provide you with? You’ll have access to local and national news shows, major sporting events, classic movie channels, cartoons, foreign language programs and more. Best of all, broadcast TV comes without the monthly cable bill so you -- alongside millions of other Americans who’ve done the same -- can realize savings in excess of $1,000 annually.
