Sundance Film Festival is known for premiering indie, underdog movies. Many of these films go unrecognized to the majority of the public; however, some make it to the big screen and actually become quite popular. If you want to see Sundance films firsthand, you will need to book a hotel near Park City today . Here is a list of some of the best movies that ever premiered at The Sundance Film Festival (in no particular order.)
Maybe you've seen them, maybe not.
Another very underrated movie is this one. Not many people have seen it or talk about it but it tells of a group of friends in New York and how they are searching for love and happiness. It is a very relatable movie and has some very heartfelt moments. Make sure to check out Park City hotels now so you can experience the films at Sundance firsthand.
This movie is one of the happiest and saddest love stories of all time. It is heart wrenching and yet extremely realistic. The story of two lovers who must part because of visa and green card issues becomes a long journey toward whether or not they will end up together.
This film is about a young six-year-old girl who lives in a rough community. She is practically an orphan when her father gets sick and she goes on a journey to find her mother. This film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival just earlier this year. It is now hitting the big screen and is amazing audiences everywhere.
If you like The Beatles, you will enjoy this movie. Nowhere Boy depicts the early life of John Lennon before The Beatles made it big. It shows some of his teenage years and how he got the band started. It is a truly interesting and compelling story.
This one started off as a documentary about Charlyne Yi who doesn’t believe in love. It ended up being a fictionalized love story about her and Michael Cera. It is very clever and Yi wins the hearts of her audience with her quirky charm. Make sure to book a Park City hotel soon because there are many movies like this and more to see at next year’s festival.
This is one of the more famous movies from Sundance that many people have seen. The movie says from the get-go that it is not a love story. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn’t. It is a sad but true depiction of a common situation among many people.
Have you seen Inception? The Dark Knight Rises? These are the more popular movies that Christopher Nolan has written and directed; however, many people have not seen one of his best and first movies: Memento. It is about a man trying to find his wife’s killer; however, it proves to be difficult as the man has short term memory loss.
Talk about trippy movies. This movie is about a boy named Donnie Darko who sees a large bunny rabbit (and a creepy one at that) who talks to him and makes him commit a series of different crimes. The rabbit tells Donnie that the world is going to end in 28 days. Find out if it does or not and watch this mysterious science-fiction-like movie.
Wes Anderson is an amazing director to become familiar with. This movie is one of his first and was shown at the Sundance film festival. Surprisingly, Sundance scorned this movie yet it is now rated 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and has become more popular over the years. If you choose to stay in a Park City hotel and go to the festival, there is a chance that the movie might not be popular until later in it’s life. Imagine being one of the first to appreciate a good movie.
Quentin Tarantino has proved himself to be an intelligent and creative director, directing Inglourious Basterds and Pulp Fiction. This movie is one of his first and it tells the story of seven strangers who team up to commit the perfect crime. When the robbery goes wrong, there is suspicion of foul play and the group tries to figure out if one of them is an undercover cop.
