Beautiful photogenic locations across the globe that you MUST visit during your lifetime.
Salar de Uyuni is often the most popular of all Bolivia tours, the white salt desert is like an alien terrain along with the accompanying coloured waters of the Laguna Colorada (Red Lake) and the Laguna Verde (Green Lake). Taking a walk through the Sol de Mañana geothermal field you will see bubbling pools of hot mud and jets of steam shooting from the ground. Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat and is estimated to contain over 9 million tonnes of salt and between 40% to 70% of the worlds lithium reserves, which are currently undergoing the process of being extracted. Each November, Salar de Uyuni plays host to three rare species of pink South American flamingo, the Andean, Chilean and James so this is often a popular time to visit this true wonder.
If you’re visiting Bolivia, why not take a trip across the northwest border and head to Peru. Here you will find the Ausangate Mountain of the Peruvian Andes. Streaked with a stunning assortment of colours, including deep hues of lavender, maroon and gold it really is no wonder why it is referred to as Rainbow Mountain. However, this adventure is not for the feint-hearted as it is notoriously difficult to access, requiring a few days of hiking in order to reach its peak. The site is regarded as a holy place and local citizens worship here daily and make regular offerings. Each year thousands of Quechua pilgrims visit the Ausangate Mountain for the Star Snow festival which takes place in May, one week before the Corpus Christi feast.
The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is one of the most popular and truly stunning attractions in Iceland. These warm waters are cast across black lava rubble and are the result of outflow from a nearby geothermal power station. People first began bathing in the water when they discovered the extremely rich in minerals they held such as silica and sulphur. It is widely suggested that bathing in the Blue Lagoon is extremely beneficial for those who suffer from skin diseases such as psoriasis.
Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan and is where the most beautiful plum and cherry trees all blossom together at the same time. Goryokaku in particular is one of the best places to view the blossoms and was once a western-style fort built during the 19th Century within the harbour city of Hakodate. The star-shaped remnants of the fort are now a park filled with blossom trees but you must plan your trip accordingly if you want to arrive during flowering season, as blossoming only takes place during late April up until early May.
Not only can you get pictures of the Milky Way at Morro Bay in California, there's bioluminescence too! I'll let Wes Bracken tell you more about this place as he sums it up much better than I could, 'Even though it was no longer peak Milky Way season when I took this shot, the bioluminescent tide completely makes up for it. || 🖌When @kovac_photo hit me up to join him, @dylankyle_photography and @stoverphoto out at Morro Rock for a night sesh, I almost didn't go. I was having issues with the shutter on my camera, resulting in a big black line across the top of my photos. I decided to go anyway and figured I could just crop the shots in post if I got any keepers. It's safe to say I'm really glad I ended up heading out because what we saw when we got there was unlike anything we had witnessed before. I remember reading about this phenomenon in various articles online and seeing some amazing photos of this blue, glowing water, but it was always in some exotic place on the other side of the world. So when I saw this happening right here at home, you best believe I full on took off running towards it. We ended up staying out there for almost 4 hours because we simply could not get enough of these wild blue waves. Good times, dudes! Thanks for inviting me out! 🤙🏼|| 📸 Shot with @nikonusa D750 + @nikonusa 24-70mm f2.8. .
