Packing for the Maldives - Check, Check and Check!

Getaway, honeymoon or spontaneous trip, here are the must pack essentials when traveling to the Maldives.

1

Sun Protection Kit

Your sun protection kit is essentially your sun block and a pair of sunglasses. These staples are a must in the Maldives as it is an island where the warm beautiful sun casts over in majority. Protecting both your skin and your eyes should be priority. For sun-block, something with around spf 50 should do the trick. Considering you're going to be spending most of your time in the sun, and any pair of sunglasses should prove quite sufficient. Polarized glasses will offer an added benefit, since it cuts off the glare and most of the reflection from the water, which will ease you from straining your eyes.

2

Waterproof Camera.

While your regular camera is excellent in capturing the land, people, food and anything on the dry side, the Maldives is a beautiful island surrounded by some of the most breathtaking beaches. This is where your waterproof camera is going to come in handy. So grab yourself a GoPro or any other waterproof camera (most action cameras are) and take it with you on some fun adventures. Water activities are a plentiful in the Maldives. Five Star Hotels offer some exquisite tours, scuba diving, snorkeling where you can witness some breathtaking marine life. Adaaran Prestige Vadoo offers these activities and many more; including a submarine ride that will sure make up for some great experiences and footage.

The Clothing Options

Since the Maldives is a Muslim country, you'll have to dress a little conservatively at the airport, cities and villages. A scarf along with pants or a long dress would be ideal. Once you're in your resort or island, things can get more comfortable and you can relax accordingly. Another important topic is footwear. While shoes would be your go to choice, consider switching to flip flops or sandals during your stay, since shoes and beaches don't always mix. One more piece of footwear you'd want to possess if you're planning on doing water activities are a pair of reef shoes which protect your feet from coral, sharp rocks and some fish that could hurt your bare feet.

4

Basic Medicine

Since most Maldives resorts are situated on their own islands, it is highly recommended that you take any essential medical items with you on your journey. This includes Paracetamol to mosquito repellent, and even Band-Aids. Resorts generally have their own doctors with their own clinics, but this would make the process a whole lot easier to begin with. If you have any sort of serious ailments that require very specific medication then it is crucial that you make sure you are not in short supply before embarking on your journey.

5

Don't Forget Your Hat

This popular fashion accessory is a staple on any tropical vacation. Your hat can help provide some shade from the heat of the sun, protecting your face and scalp, especially if you're easily prone to headaches in which case it could single-handedly save your vacation.
