05 Must See Attractions in Khon Kaen - The How and the Why

One of Isan's four major cities, Khon Kaen is part of Thailand's big four. Located 450kms from Bangkok, this beautiful region has much to explore. Listed are the city's best attractions and allures.

1

Explore the Khon Kaen National Museum

The national museum was opened by the late king, His Majesty Bumibol, in 1972. The place displays a comprehensive collection of historical artefacts, archaeology findings and art. Apart for the permanent exhibits there are also temporary displays. Look forward to browsing through the following, prehistoric period geography and geology, Dvaravati culture, Khmer and Lopburi culture, evolution of art in Thailand, past history, culture and folklore; together with lots more interesting displays of the country's rich background and history. A mere 6 minute drive from AVANI Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre the museum is a must visit whether you are a culture buff or lover of art.

2

Visit Ban Khok Sanga King Cobras Village

Not for the faint of heart, the Ban Khok Sanga King Cobras village will certainly impress. There you can witness how the slithering cobras are handled and trained to dance and sway in rhythm to the tunes belted out by specially trained handlers. Shiver in anticipation as cobras sway – hoods up – as if transfixed by some magical power. And if your nerves are up for some adrenaline pumping action try handling one of the large pythons there. Definitely one of the popular things to do in Khon Kaen, a visit to the snake village will not disappoint.

3

Have Fun at Dino Waterpark

Loads of dinosaur sized fun is available at this water park. Tipped to be the largest waterpark in South East Asia this beautiful theme park is spread across 40 acres of land. Made up of nine themed zones the park is chock full of fun rides, slides and experiences for the entire family to enjoy.
