Planning an East Coast Road Trip to Florida

Are you someone who’s planning a trip down to Florida? Maybe you’re going on vacation. Perhaps you have to attend a family reunion. Or let’s just say you’re someone who’s interested in getting the lay of the land

1

Planning

Let’s just say you’re someone who’s interested in getting the lay of the land for some Florida real estate investment. Regardless of your reasoning for heading to the Sunshine State, getting there by driving down the East Coast can be one of the best moves you’ll ever make.

If you’re starting your trip all the way up in Maine, begin at Fort Kent, Maine, near the U.S.-Canadian border. This will put you just a short drive from Portland, Maine, the state’s largest city. From there you can easily get to the country’s second-oldest lighthouse, Portland Head Lighthouse on Cape Elizabeth, just south of Portland.

2

Driving

As you’re driving south, you’ll hit New Hampshire, which is home to Colonial villages from 400 years ago that still stand. The Seacoast Science Center is also in New Hampshire and can be a great experience for those who enjoy learning about marine life.

You won’t have to drive too much longer and you’ll hit Massachusetts, home of the Salem Witch Trials. Visit the Salem Witch Museum while passing through on the way to Boston, one of America’s most historic cities.

3

Beauty

Connecticut is a beautiful drive and you can stop at Yale University along the way, but the next real action to hit on your trip resides in New York. Check out Time Square, New York Harbor, and the Statue of Liberty before heading further south.

Next stop is our country’s first national capital, Philadelphia. Philly provides the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall for those truly interested in learning how America got started.

4

Hospitality

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and our nation’s current capital, Washington, D.C., are close to one another and are both must-see spots. Mount Vernon, former home of George Washington, is also not too far away, in Northern Virginia.

Now it’s time for some good old-fashioned southern hospitality in Asheville, N.C. Visit the Biltmore Estate, former home of George Vanderbilt, or take in the sights along the Blue Ridge Mountains.

5

Golf

If you like golf, bring your clubs with you on your road trip and experience some of the country’s nicest golf courses in South Carolina. The Ocean Course and Yeamans Hall Club are world renowned courses you’ll find while there.

Look for alligators once you hit Georgia and visit the 402,000-acre Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Now that you’ve reached Florida, it’s time to plan your Florida itinerary, which may include Disney World in Orlando, snorkeling in the Keys, or the nightlife in Miami.
