5 Best beaches in Fiji- Guide to the golden sands of the islands

The Fiji islands have a luxurious beauty about them that is unmatched by many tourist destinations around the world. Visitors delight themselves with aquatic life below the deep blue waters and by relaxing on the sandy beaches.

1

Castaway Island

Castaway Island is one of the best sites for snorkelling enthusiasts to get some good action with the waves. The beach here has the softest and whitest sand and lines the coast with an amazing flourish. Qalito Island is the official name for Castaway Island. Interestingly enough, it lies within the chain of volcanic islands called the Mamanuca Chain which is located on the Western side of the capital city of Fiji, Nadi. There is also some fantastic colourful hard coral in the gardens found a distance from the beach.

2

Honeymoon Beach

There are many beautiful beaches on Turtle Island, 14 of them to be exact and they make for a picture-perfect landscape that travellers would love to take snapshots of. It is a definite must-see. Soaking your feet in cool calming waves, frolicking along the rocky terrain while the swaying palm trees cool you down, the beach is aptly named and the romance is in the air, along with the naturally tranquil ambience. The best part is that the beach can be all yours and privacy is something newly-wed couples are always on the lookout for.

3

Horseshoe Bay

Just as you might expect, Horseshoe Bay got its name because it is in fact shaped like a horseshoe. This one location is where everyone falls in love with from the very first visit and that is mostly because of the fine sand which is softer than anything you could possibly imagine. Horseshoe Bay is a thing of beauty and it is actually one of the world's most recommended visits. Another cool feature of the beach is the gorgeous reefs which lie outside the bounds of the sea and the waters are some of the most pristine ever seen.

4

Natadola Bay

It is a short ride to the capital city Nadi. The exquisite-looking resort is sitting along the Coral Coast on the island of Vitu Levu. This beach is a classic for some good-old-fashioned swimming at any hour of the day and is a sure winner amongst families and couples alike. One way to enjoy Natadola Bay is to stay at places like InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa as the hotels have great access to snorkelling activities on the beach which is ideal for water sports enthusiasts.

5

Namale Private Beach

This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a sea-side cocktail. You can be sure of some pretty awesome beach activities and facilities offered by Fiji luxury resorts along this stretch of sand and teasing waves. Coconut trees provide a much-needed shade in the scorching sun and a romantic spot to chill when the sun goes down. Several celebrities have stayed at Fiji, like the famous Russell Crowe and Edward Norton. There's loads to do here, such as scuba diving and hiking, where a beautiful waterfall awaits you in a hidden clearing.
