Trek to Dudhsagar Falls - a lifetime experience in Goa

Located on the border of Goa and Karnataka, Dudhsagar waterfalls is definitely not an unknown term for any of you. It is a majestic four tiered waterfall which falls from a height of 310m. If viewed from a distance it appears as if milk is falling from the hill, which make its name quite appropriate ‘sea of milk’. Reaching Dudhsagar is not a very easy task, you need to plan way prior to your trip. It is exactly located in Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem national park. Kangchenjunga. On this route, the enchantment of Himalayas upland trekking are there for the trekkers to enjoy, with the enticing challenge of the 5000 mts high Goecha-La at the end. An extra advantage is that the elevation gain is more gradual, and there is ample time to familiarize oneself to the climate.

Walking on the ice-covered river of Zanskar is an ultimate experience for adventure freaks that are keen to do trekking in the Indian Himalayas. This trek is also named as Chadar trek, which means blanket. Spring water prevents this icy blanket from completely smothering the river, which in some places, retains its rapids; all the more awesome in temperature of -25 to –30 degrees. The trek goes by shuffling along the Chadar that breaks and changes color on the river every few hours! A magnificent and at times challenging trek, with opportunities to relish ancient Buddhist monasteries and secluded villages nestled in the depths of the deep gorges valley of Trans Zanskar ranges.

The second highest peak (at 1712 metres) in Kodagu, Kumara Parvatha is a popular peak to climb. However, the 15-kilometre trek is no cake walk, although it does offer some scenic views. The starting point is on temple road, approximately a quarter of a kilometre from the Kukke Subramanya temple. While water and food is available at Battara Mane (the second pitstop), there are no washrooms. October to February is the best time to trek.

The beauty of this trekking destination is not just its panoramic view of lush rolling hills. It also presents two trekking options, both of which can be completed within one day. There is a plain 15-kilometre walk from Lonavala or a rugged 2,000-foot climb from Kondivade village where one can also view the Kondana caves. The best time to visit is between June and September.
