Picture it – you, your partner and a boundless, blue horizon sparkling under a brilliant, golden sun. True, this is an image offered by almost every Maldivian beach, but that's what makes Hulhumalé so fantastic – it's the best of the best, one of the, at least. The beach has some of the whitest sands, lined with forests of swaying, green palms, and waters of the most vivid blue. It's a great place to go snorkelling and scuba diving, or just lie on the sand and take a leisurely swim with your loved one. Hulhumalé Beach is located in the Kaafu Atoll and is about 2 kms away from the Malé International Airport, the beach is surrounded by fantastic hotels and restaurants that are considerably more affordable than those on resort islands.
The gorgeous, little Veligandu Island sits within the North Ari Atoll and offers a home away from home. The lovely, warm beaches and intimate surroundings radiate a sense of peace and comfort unmatched by any other Maldivian beach. The small island is one of the cheaper resort islands in the archipelago and can be reached either by taking a government ferry to Rasdhoo Island, followed by a commute by boat, or, by sea plane from Velana International Airport. The surrounding coral reefs are a whimsical explosion of life and colour, providing some of the best snorkelling and scuba diving experiences around. Perhaps even more stunning than its underwater wonders, are Veligandu sunsets, you and your other half will know serenity in all its soothing forms as you walk down the beach, hand in hand, watching the sky erupt in colour as the sun sets behind the distant horizon.
One gorgeous, 35-minute, sea plane ride from Malé brings you to a tiny island in Baa Atoll, which is home to the spectacularly luxurious Reethi Beach. Brilliant white beaches, headed with verdant palms, meet blue marble waters, creating one of the finest beaches in Maldives. In fact, Reethi Beach is hailed as one of the best beaches for Honeymooners!
