B.Sc. in Marine Engineering

The B.Sc. in Marine Engineering is a four year course to be undertaken full time and students are evaluated via continuous assessments and examinations. Upgrading B.Sc Mechanical Engineer to Marine Engineer Training Course – Phases I and III

Situated in Malabe, CINEC Campus offers a number of engineering courses in Sri Lanka. These courses are offered by the Marine Engineering Department. Courses range from training courses and preparatory ones to refresher and updating courses as well as upgrading courses. Some of the upgrading varieties include transitioning from B.Sc. Mechanical Engineer to Marine Engineer. Therefore, students can decide on which course is most suited for them. The upgrading B.Sc. Mechanical Engineer to Marine Engineer training courses – Phases I and III are full time courses that run for six months and four months respectively. In order to engage in the Phase III course, candidates must complete Phase I as well as have 12 months sea service.

B.Sc. in Fisheries and Marine Science

The B.Sc. in Fisheries and Marine Science aims to provide students with an innate knowledge of fisheries and marine science by way of a 4 year special degree or a 3 year general degree. The programme is designed to include teaching via lectures, seminars, fieldwork and workshops. This B.Sc. programme is offered by the Ocean University in Tangalle.

Pre – Sea Training Course

The Pre – Sea Training Course for Engine Ratings (Motorman) is a programme that lasts for three months and has also received approval from the Ministry of Ports and Shipping. The course is a fulltime programme containing modules such as maritime English, safe operation of boilers and electrical equipment.

Marine Engineer Officer Cadet Programme

The Marine Engineer Officer Cadet Programme can lead to a candidate obtaining their B.Sc. in Marine Engineering from the Dalian Maritime University in China. The Programme has three phases and upon its conclusion guarantees the bestowment of knowledge, theoretical and practical, as well as hands-on expertise upon the graduate.

Foundation Course in Navigation

This course is a preparatory one that is tailormade for candidates who wish to sit for the Certificate of Competency as Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch.
