Dining here is definitely an experience worth having since it's a beautiful open-sided restaurant that offers a wide assortment of cuisine, encompassing Japanese, Thai and Chinese delicacies. Anyone who has been here is sure to express their admiration of the restaurant's extensive menu. Due to their open setting, diners can experience the beauty of the riverside setting and even feast their senses upon the scent of the frangipani trees and all the sights and sounds associated with Chiang Rai's riverside. Although their food is considered exquisite overall, their true strengths lie in their Northern Thai cuisine.

Cabbages and Condoms

Out of all the restaurants in the area, this probably has the most eccentric name. There's a reason however behind the restaurant's interesting choice for an identity. A considerable amount of the money a patron would pay for their meal is donated to Thailand's leading nongovernmental entity that specialises in HIV/AIDS education. The cuisine you can expect at the restaurant is Thai but with a focus on the western palette. There's also live entertainment provided by a band that plays during evenings and lunchtimes. If you're looking a unique place with delicious cuisine, affordable pricing and with good intentions, then this is as good a place as it gets.

The most definitive aspect is the collection of ceramic dolls and various toys that are placed throughout to decorate the venue. The staff further complements the unique atmosphere by being dressed in traditional Thai clothing. The restaurant also plays live folk music in the night to complete the experience. The traditional Thai cuisine served at the restaurant as strong Lanna and Chinese influences, and showcase signature dishes such as crispy catfish with mango salad.
