Many would consider this market to be the best place to get souvenirs, with some even comparing it to a paradise for Maldivian mementos. The market is alternatively known as 'Singapore Bazaar' since a great number of the items found here are imported from Singapore, which is a merit to their quality. There are several items which are icons of the market, such as miniature models of Dhonis which are traditional Maldivian boats. Another item would be the Thuda Kuna, a Maldivian mat that is made with various locally sourced materials. One of the most popular items tourists purchase are lacquered wooden boxes which are usually decorated with various items such as sea-shells. These are usually produced in the Baa and Thulhadhoo atolls respectively.
